Table Talk: Week 12 (FPT Season II)

Much was still to be decided in the final Fife Poker Tour league game of the season, namely who would be crowned FPT Season II League Champion. John 'Boy Walton' Gooda (Season I WSOFP Main Event Winner) was 600 points ahead of Ryan 'The Don' Vito (Season I FPT League Champion) as we entered week 12. It truly was squeaky bum time as Ryan attempted to come from behind and upset John by finishing on top of him :lol:.

Not one to rest on his laurels, John played his normal aggressive style that had seen him good up to this point. Though it was a nervous wait for John after he was knocked out in 11th place. This meant if Ryan could finish 4th or better then he would be crowned league champion for the second successive season. After some ducking and diving he was eventually eliminated in 7th place, which meant it was John who secured his first Fife Poker Tour league title of his career.

At the back of all that drama, week 12 FPT league game was still to be decided. Congratulation to Linda 'Little Miss. Moffat' who became the first female FPT tournament winner in it two season history.

Table Talk: Week 6 (Season II)

The Fife Poker Tour is halfway through its second season and things are beginning to shape up nicely. Numbers were strong once again as the league grows from strength to strength. So far in this season 30 budding poker players have turned up to play on the blue baize tables.

It was last week victor Ryan 'The Don' Vito who was top of the pile again once the cards had fallen, securing his first back to back series. Going into the final four he found himself with more than half the total chips in play. The other players composed of Stephen 'High Five' Pickering, 'Johnboy Walton' Gooda and Danny 'Knockout' Coll. John finished 4th, who was left blowing bubbles after falling foul to a river beat. He was soon joined by Stephen, who placed 3rd (not 5th).

Heads-Up and in the final hand of the game Ryan, who had a massive 6:1 chip lead over Danny pushed all-in. With only 17500 left after paying his big blind Danny called the bet. It played out like so...

Table Talk: Week 5 (Season II)

If you haven't already guessed, 15 poker players to the tables for the fifth FPT event of Season II. Much like last weeks antics two pairs were getting busted by trips, trips busted by straight, straight busted by flushes, and flushes busted by full houses (but until the river card obviously).

A number of our regular players we awarded 500 poker addict bonus points having reached the 5 game attendance milestone. With 7 events still to play between now and the end of season there is still a chance for others to qualify for their bonuses (remember that poker addict bonus points do not contribute towards final league standings, they only count towards your WSOFP Starting Stack should you qualify).

This weeks final three consisted of Colin 'Yippie Kai Yai' Mc.Lean, 'Johnboy Walton' Gooda and Ryan 'The Don' Vito. Colin was eliminated as the blinds reached the 3000 - 6000 cap, which left John and Ryan to do battle head-ups. After a long tussle it was last seasons league champion Ryan that took this weeks spoils, however the second place finish by John was enough to see him extended his lead at the top of the table.

Table Talk: Week 4 (Season II)

If you were behind preflop, flop or turn it seemed the poker gods were in your favor with one card to come. The river was you friend... or should I say "ilog ay iyong kaibigan" for the pretenders trying to cut a living in the Filipino Poker Tour. Another week and another strong turn out as 20 poker players (gents & ladies) sat down for the fourth installment of Season II.

We fast forward to our final four which consisted of Rab 'Goldenballs' Dingwall, Kenny 'The Mouth' Blake, Willie 'High - Lowe' and Johnny 'Shortstaff' Crimes. The hand that burst the bubble played out as follows, with blinds at 1500 - 3000 they were coming round thick and fast. Rab pushed with for 21k under the gun, a standard play giving the circumstances. Willie folded and JC who was in the small blind called with putting himself all-in. Action to Kenny in the big blind who at this point had about 65k in chips, following some deliberation he made the call. This was his chance to secure a place heads-up by knocking out two players at once without jeopardising to much of his chip stack, and as it was he had a workable hand in . Help was on hand when the flop came . Neither short stack was able to catch up as the board ran out on the turn and river.

The final pair played about 40 hands heads-up with the action going back and forth (much to Daz's dismay who was dealing at this point). Both players took it turns to pick up monster hands. Its just unfortunate that each time their opponent had rice so the fireworks never materialised. That was until Neil 'Giant Chipstacks' Kelly offered to deal one hand. A preflop raise from Willie with was met by Kenny's all-in who had , which Willie was forced to call. on the flop, followed by on 4th and 5th street meant Kenny's walking sticks held up crowning him our week 4 winner.

Its toit at the top with only 1000 points seperating the top six players, but its Chris 'Sweet Berry' who reclaims the lead in the race to become FPT league champion.

Table Talk: Week 3 (Season II)

We had to postpone this week's event by one day, however the masses still turned up to support The Fife Poker Tour and their wallets once the game got underway on Thursday. It took until level 6 when blinds were 400 - 800 before we eventually reached our final table. This was made up of (in no particular order); Neil 'Giant Chipstacks' Kelly, Chris 'Sweet Berry', Willie 'High - Lowe', Daz 'Vegas Baby' Philp, 'Johnboy Walton' Gooda, Danny 'Knockout' Coll, Stephen 'High Five' Pickering, Mark 'Aces' Mc.Gregor and FPT newcomer Colin 'Yippie Kai Yai' Mc.Lean.

The first hand of interest was Daz's vs.Chris's for a pot worth 30k in chips. The players got it all-in preflop with a raise, re-raise situation playing out and the flop came . The on the turn then the killer on the river crushed Daz's cowboys and his chances of finishing strongly in this weeks event.

A few levels later on and pocket 10's were in action again, but unfortunately for John they were on the wrong side of lady luck. John pushed all-in for 7.5k with , and though Neil had he was obliged to call as it was only another 4.5k on top of his 3k BB. John spiked trips in the window however his arse went into twitch mode when he noticed the flop. Things worsened for John when the fell on the turn giving Neil the flush draw plus his original open ender for the knockout with one card to come. The on the river made the flush and sent last weeks champion packing.

The top three money and points were fought out between Chris, Stephen and Colin. There was no debutant victory for Colin, but he did finish with a well deserved 3rd place and a great start to his FPT career. After a grueling 30 minute heads-up session between Chris and Stephen both players decided to do a 'Dingwall Dealbreaker' and split the remaining pot. Stephen and Chris were awarded 1st and 2nd points respectively after playing the final hand face-up. Stephen was delighted to break his 5th place hoodoo by reaching first base and in doing so became the new FPT league leader after 3 weeks of play in Season II.

Table Talk: Week 2 (Season II)

Much to talk about this week children so let’s start with the hand of the evening. Blinds where 200 - 400 and 'Del Boy' found himself against Colin 'The Racing Snake' Grieve. With a raise pre-flop and a call, the flop comes ... Colin checks, Del bets, Colin raises, Del re-raises all-in and Colin insta calls faster than a nats fart. Del flips over , and Colin (who thinks he’s cunningly trapped his victim with trips) turns up . The shock and astonishment on his face, as well as on everyone else’s at the table has only ever been seen before on archive footage of "Watch Out Beadles About!”. The board completed with the and , giving Del the trips once everything was said and done. Maybe it should be Colin 'Misread Mr.Magoo' Grieve instead from now on... Don't worry chief!!! the 'Copag Braile' additions are already on order as we here at The FPT want to offer full accessibility to all our poker members.

It was a long slog before the starting 20 strong field was whittled down to the final three, which consisted of Archie ‘The Magician’ Prentice, Daz 'Vegas Baby' Philp and John 'Boy Walton' Gooda. With everyone sitting on around 50,000 chips it was still anyone’s game at this point. The decisive hand came when Archie and Gooda had a toss-up over a queen. After a call and a check pre-flop, the flop came all low cards blank, blank, blank. Both players checked and a fell on the turn. Archie check raised all-in and Gooda called. It was vs. , advantage Archie with one card to come. The river was the and this fat lady was singing for Archie.

Heads up we go and last weeks two early eliminatees Gooda and Daz found themselves fighting it out for this week riches. Forget 'Rumble in the Jungle' or 'The Thriller in Manila' this was 'Who's ur Fadger in the Gladyer'. After a long period of sparring back and forth, Gooda still managed to maintain his 3:1 chip lead as they entered what would turn out to be the final hand of the game. Blinds at 3000 - 6000 Gooda calls and Daz checks pre-flop, the flop is rainbow. Daz first to act leads out with a pot sized bet, only to be raised all-in by Gooda, which Daz calls. Middle pair for Daz with vs. Gooda's who has the opened ended straight draw plus to over cards. The turn made the straight giving Gooda a well deserved victory.

With numbers as strong as they've ever been for a league game, its mental to think how crazy it'll get when we see the return of some of our hardcore regulars. Thanks to all for playing.

Hot start to the new season!

Table Talk: Week 1 (Season I)

The tables were set, the cards checked and the chips were counted, the only thing that was missing were the players. Not to disappoint, 17 people braved the elements to take part in the FPT Season II opening event.

With the introduction of the new points system this season everyone was keen to get off to a good start. Unfortunately the same could not be said for Daz 'Vegas Baby' Philp. In an interview after the tournament he told our reporters, quote....I don't want to sound like a dodgy Viagra promo when I say that "I'm gutted at cuming last, but hey the only way is up!!!"... unquote.

Later on in proceedings Kev 'Sniper' Power was in favor with the poker gods when he was dealt two hands in a row and successfully used them to dually dispatch Archie and Ryan 'Jnr' Rozanski.

Once the dust had settled Kev made his way to the final 3 along with 'Bubble-boy' Burke and FPT debutant Chris 'Sweet' Berry. The battle was fierce and at one point Kev went down to a measly 1800 in chips when blinds were a staggering 1000 - 2000. After some ducking diving he built his stack back up to a respectable 28k, but it was to no avail as he finished in third place.

The now wrongly named 'Bubble-boy' Burke and Chris Berry were left to fight it out heads up. In the final hand of the game it was Chris that took down the event when his held up against Burke's . Well done to Chris for winning his first FPT event at the first attempt of asking.

We would like to thank the players for taking part and we look forward to seeing you all again in the future.

Must have been wrong cos we got a pretty good turnout on Wednesday! Cheers boys for turning up and making it the best start yet to an FPT season....

If there was ever a poker tour in Jerusalem then I reckon I'd win it....... John the Baptist and all that.....

Not until the big fat guy in the red suit, with the bulging sack arrives..... I'm talking about the:

'World Series of Fife Poker End of Season Game!'

Phew that's a mouthful, we're going to have to work on that (said the actress to the bishop.....)

The blind structure will be available to view prior to the game starting, needless to say we're starting the levels at 100/200 as we need the game to finish before Christmas!

After the game, the new season doesn't start until Wednesday the 6th of January; however, I'm sure that everyone will still want a game on the 30th so keep your calendars free and we can maybe mix it up a bit and play some PLO or Pineapple!
